It's All in the Adventure

When your guide stops at a 70 degree wall of granite and says, "I've never been this way before," you know it's time to get out and walk.

Our Navajo guides, Tony and John Joe, picked us up promptly and we headed off to Mystery Valley to view cliff dwellings, petroglyphs, and other ancient beauties.

A 15-20 foot climb placed us inside Full Moon Arch

Skull Rock served as a harbinger of what was to come.  First a giant dust storm --

This was followed by getting stuck in said dust and sand, requiring us to all work to dig out the two vehicles.  After that, we found ourselves at previously mentioned wall of granite.  Who knew a Suburban could do what it did?

Our guides set up camp on the top of Hunt's Mesa, looking back towards the View Hotel (where it was nice and warm).  Before heading to bed for a 5:30 wake-up call, the sun set in a truly western display of color.

After near freezing temperatures, 30-40 mph winds, and the closest thing to a bathroom being a small shrub, we were awed by a beautiful sunrise over Monument Valley.
