Iceland Air flight attendant uniforms are quite formal, harkening to the days of Eastern Airlines and Braniff. The main difference is food is available only for purchase. That was okay as we ate at the SLOWEST AIRPORT RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD before boarding and were not hungry. In addition to leaving exactly on time, Iceland Air very courteously includes an Icelandic vocabulary lesson on each headrest.
We plan to stick with "takk".
John and I had a discussion about what was the busiest international terminal we'd each been in. Heathrow is it, with Rio being a close contender. The Keflavik airport is at the opposite end of the spectrum. We cleared passport control, retrieved our luggage, passed through customs, purchased our bus ticket into town, and boarded the bus in 30 minutes!! Customs consisted of walking out a door - not a single official in sight, no form to fill out, nada. They are very nonchalant - a nice change from cranky, strip searching, x-raying TSA agents. It was practically comical.
So far, language is a non-issue. Everyone speaks English extraordinarily well. The bus driver had on talk radio and the broadcaster quite clearly said Mississippi and Louisiana, which sounded funny in an Icelandic accent. Apparently, Isaac is making the news over here.
Powering through jet lag, we headed to one of the top tourist destinations: the Blue Lagoon. The water is the by-product of a geothermal power plant and is a constant 98-104F. You are instructed to spread the silica mud all over your body as it is reputed to cure all types of skin disorders. John didn't. I did. We'll see who is most beautiful in the morning.

Whale has the look and texture of steak, yet a much milder taste, and not at all fatty or greasy. If whale was cured, it would go quite well on a charcuterie platter. Overall, dinner was exceptional. We ate at the Grillmarkadurinn (The Grill Market) in the basement dining room with volcanic stone walls - very hip.
Inflight, John presented me with a touching surprise for the trip: a Whale Camera. I hope those whales appreciate it enough to put on a show tomorrow and aren't too upset we ate one of their brethren tonight.
Hugs from afar.
Correction to previous post (hopefully not a regular feature) ...
Icelandic does have a Germanic origin. We have come across several words that are similar.
